SIGNALS For ADULTS and PARENTS

SIGNALS ADULT VERSION

The adult version will be specifically targeted for adults who are using and need assistance in the pre-contemplative stage. This is typically characterized by strong denial and risk perception deficit issues or low self-preservation attitudes. The adult version of SIGNALS will use some materials from the adolescent version but will differ significantly in content. The adults SIGNALS intervention will be (12) hours in length. The SIGNALS adult version is under review for publication.

SIGNALS PARENT VERSION

The SIGNALS program for Parents is different from the adult version. The SIGNALS parent version assumes that the parent(s) are non-using adults. The purpose of the Parent version is to assist parents in understanding the issues that their children are facing and what part they can play in doing something about it. This brief intervention can be thought of as a precursor to the Four Piers Program. The SIGNALS Parent version will help in understanding why it's important to accept "outside"  help and devise a plan of action. Issues of anger and depression are discussed with solution focused alternatives as the target. Learning how to network and the importance of not losing hope is a critical component. This is a very brief (6) session program. The SIGNALS parent version is under review for publication.
